Blogs can be a great way to share what you're reading, whether on other blogs, news websites, or even social media. With many websites, the social share options can very with only a handful of the major social networks like Facebook or X to the many options, including those many haven't even heard of like Buffer. It's an easy way for these sites have their reader share to others what they find interesting, and it's an easy way for bloggers to share and comment about these articles on their own blogs.
The article I selected for this share is very relevant to our topic. Here is a link and an excerpt of an article from the Video Librarian site:
How Libraries Can Use Social Media to their Advantage: Social media is an excellent tool to provide an awareness of your library’s resources as well as encourage patron engagement. By using several social media platforms to promote your library programs, library patrons will be lining up at the door.
Above the body of the article text are some like and share options, starting with some widely available options like e-mail, print, Facebook share, X tweet, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Gmail. The green forked icon indicates more options.
Clicking this icon yields more options to share, even some obscure ones. For bloggers, there is Blogger, Wordpress, Tumblr, and LiveJournal. Since I want to share this article to our blog without leaving Video Librarian, I chose Blogger.
This opens up a small window where I can select from several blogs available on my account. Of course, the choice is Libraries and Social Media 2024.
After I click "Share," a new tab opens where I can create the post to share this article. The next step is to click "Publish."
If this option is available on other articles we find in our online research, this is a fantastic option.
Also, at the bottom of each published post has a gadget where it's easy share from several options, including Gmail, Blogger, X (formerly known as Twitter), Facebook, and Pinterest as shown in this screenshot below.
For any of our posts, others on Blogger (especially our classmates with other blog topics) can easily shareon their blogs. With Facebook still being a major social media option, one can easily share one of our posts there. While our sharing options are considerably fewer than what was seen on Video Librarian's article, one can still share from our blog without leaving it.
