Added Subscribe by E-Mail Gadget

 Hi everyone,

I added a subscribe by e-mail gadget on the sidebar. I did this by adding the HTML/JavaScript gadget.

I created "follow by e-mail" going onto the follow.it website and I then copied the block of HTML code into "content" when I was in the "configure HTML/JavaScript" function of the Blogger gadget.

Once I saved the gadget, it shows up in the sidebar like this,

Any reader who wants to keep up with our blog should be able to keep up with it by subscribing with e-mail as a delivery option. While this method has been around for a long time, it has had longer staying power than another option I considered when adding a gadget - subscribing to the RSS feed.

While blogs like those published by Blogger or Wordpress have RSS feeds, they have become less relevant these days as RSS feeds have become more relevant for another type of online content: podcasts.

The RSS feed URL for this site is https://librariesandsocialmedia24.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss

At first, I added the subscribe gadget. This one enabled a few feed subscription options but it didn't seem to be very workable.

I figured it was better to have an e-mail subscription option instead. I went with creating one on follow.it because I couldn't find the Blogger option for it. The gadget option seems to have existed before as there were several YouTube tutorials on them dating several years back. However, the option native to Blogger doesn't seem to exist anymore.

I entered in my e-mail address to subscribe. I will give an update on this later.
